Materials Testing and Analysis for Business

High technology manufacturing businesses based in the West Midlands have the opportunity to investigate the hidden make-up of materials used during production, by utilising state of the art characterisation equipment and expertise of staff from the School of Metallurgy and Materials at the University of Birmingham. Characterisation of materials can provide benefits in new product development, quality assurance and fault diagnosis across a broad spectrum of industry sectors such as aerospace, automotive, food and medical devices. By assisting SME’s resolve problems with production or product development the CHART project hopes to promote greater competitiveness of West Midland companies in global markets

The support available through CHART is funded by a £1.3 million investment from the European Regional Development Fund. ERDF funding has been matched by University of Birmingham funding.
